Dal 3 febbraio al 31 marzo 2012 in mostra allo Studio Guenzani 25 fotografie di Claudio Gobbi : Armenie Ville.
Per la sua seconda mostra allo Studio Guenzani Claudio Gobbi presenta Armenie Ville, un progetto di foto-installazione e libro d’artista tuttora in corso che raccoglie oltre 40 fotografie di chiese armene in 20 differenti paesi. Il progetto nasce durante una residenza effettuata dall’artista a Parigi presso la Cité Internationale des Arts nel 2007, in corrispondenza con l’Anno dell’Armenia in Francia.
Allo Studio Guenzani Claudio Gobbi espone 25 fotografie di piccolo formato (24 x 30 cm) che ritraggono chiese armene collocate in un flusso territoriale continuo che va dalla Francia al Caucaso e costruite in un arco temporale che dall’Alto Medioevo giunge ai giorni nostri. Le immagini, in parte realizzate personalmente, in parte collezionate nell’arco di quattro anni e provenienti da fonti diverse, evidenziano le peculiarità dell’architettura armena nell’essenzialità delle sue forme rimaste inalterate per oltre 1500 anni, a rappresentare un’eredità che sembra tramandarsi nello spazio e nel tempo senza soluzione di continuità. Eterno ponte tra l’Europa e l’Asia, primo paese cristiano al mondo e sconosciuta a molti, l’Armenia costituisce un naturale territorio di riflessione per l’artista che da anni è interessato ad indagare gli aspetti identitari e multiculturali del vecchio continente, la sua memoria collettiva, i suoi incerti confini culturali.
Se da un lato Armenie Ville si pone come terza parte di una trilogia (dopo i progetti Persistence e Within) proseguendo coerentemente il percorso di ricerca di tracce culturali diffuse sul territorio Europeo, dall’altro apre una fase nuova nel percorso dell’artista che interrogando i concetti di sguardo, serialità, autorialità, intende riflettere sullo stato attuale della fotografia contemporanea.

Studio Guenzani presents a solo exhibiton of Claudio Gobbi: Armenie Ville.

For his second exhibition at Studio Guenzani, Claudio Gobbi presents Armenie Ville, an installation and an ongoing artist’s book project that collects more than 40 photographs of Armenian churches of 20 different countries. The project has been conceived during an artist residency at the Citè Internazionale des Arts at Paris in 2007, Year of Armenia in France.
Claudio Gobbi’s Armenie Ville at Studio Guenzani consists of 25 small format (24 x 30 cm) photographs of Armenian churches, within an area spreading from France through Caucasus and spanning from the early Middle Age to the present day. The images made or collected by the artist over a period of four years highlight the particular nature of Armenian churches, whose main architectural features have remained unchanged over 1500 years. Even today not so well known, Armenia, the earliest Christian country and the eternal bridge between Europe and Asia, has been a natural source of inspiration for the artist. For years Claudio Gobbi has been investigating the identity and multicultural aspects of the old continent as well as its collective memory and its blur cultural boarders. On the one hand, Armenie Ville represents the third part of a trilogy- following Persistence and Within projects- continuing the process of discovery of the cultural traces spread on the European territory. On the other hand, Armenie Ville opens a new phase for the artist wishing to reflect on the state of contemporary photography by questioning the concepts of vision, seriality and authorship.
